Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in joining the Born at Sea Collective. We accept submissions via email for publication in March, June, September, and December respectively. We operate on a rolling schedule so please keep an eye on our social media pages and our website for information concerning submission windows. Please review our submission guidelines below before submitting. We look forward to reviewing your work.

We accept Docs and PDFs for written submissions and JPGs for our visual submissions. When submitting please attach your submission to the email and put which genre you hope to submit to in the subject line of your email. As an example, the subject line should look similar to [Submission - GENRE] in order to reach the proper editor. Feel free to introduce yourself and please include a small bio at the end of your email. While we accept all genres and topic matter, we ask that you provide a trigger warning in your submission if your composition leans on the heavier side of life.

As for your rights, we ask to use your nonexclusive First North American Serial Rights. This allows us to publish your piece and these rights will revert back to you after publication, enabling you to seek republication. We'd appreciate first-publication credit if you choose republication. We also ask for archival rights so that your piece may remain on our website. In addition, we are unable to pay our patrons, but we are looking forward to remedying this in the future. In addition, we encourage simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if your piece is selected elsewhere.

Finally, all genres and submission types are welcome, but Born at Sea Collective will not accept any submissions that promote all forms of bigotry as we reserve the right to decline or remove any submission that doesn't adhere to our values. This includes racism, xenophobic, sexist, homophobic, trans-phobic, and ablest materials.

If you have further questions, feel free to contact us at thebornatseacollective@gmail.com.
